The airline says it plans to add more US destinations, although it hasn’t given a timeline yet.

As well as the new route, the company will operate temporary flights between Gatwick and Oslo this summer, also with Premium and Economy cabins – and fares from £41 each way.

The cost of an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) – the visa most Britons use to enter the country – has risen from $14 (£11) to $21 (£17).

The document lasts for two years and is compulsory for visitors to the United States, such as Britons using British passports, traveling under the Visa Waiver Scheme.

Anyone crossing the country to go elsewhere must also take one.

The city that never sleeps is one of those classic American vacations that most people have on their travel wishlist.

After all, it’s home to many iconic sites, including the Empire State Building, Times Square, Broadway theaters and Rockefeller Center. Then there are the lively bars, the brilliant restaurants and, of course, those incredible boutiques that have firmly established it as one of the fashion capitals of the world.
