Cubic reaches milestone with delivery of F-35 fighter jet P5CTS

Cubic’s commercial division Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions (CMPS) has achieved a major milestone by delivering the 1,000th P5 Combat Training System (P5CTS) for the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet.

The F-35 P5 is an Internal Subsystem (IS) configuration that provides Encrypted Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) to fighter aircraft.

This configuration is used to relay encrypted time, space, and position (TSPI) information between range ground stations and participating aircraft during training sorties.

Cubic’s P5 IS configuration is also interoperable with the ACMI P5 CTS/Tactical CTS Increment I (TCTS I) system.

More than 2,000 P5CTS/TCTS I modules are currently in use with defense customers worldwide, as well as 17 coalition partners.

According to the company, the F-35 aircraft’s P5 and P5CTS/TCTS I modules provide real-time kill notifications as well as advanced weapons deployment simulations.

Jonas Furukrona, vice president and general manager of CMPS LVC Training, said, “Cubic is thrilled to deliver our 1,000th P5CTS for the F-35 Enterprise.

“We look forward to continuing to provide this critical upgrade to our US and coalition fighters.

“This is a major achievement for the future of air combat training and Cubic.”

Cubic’s F-35 P5 allows range training officers and exercise controllers to safely witness the real-time training event performed by F-35 participants.

This process involves the incorporation of the F-35 P5 system with the Block 4A decryptor at the P5CTS ground station.

The F-35 P5 allows warfighters to protect techniques, tactics and procedures while training against enemy exploitation.

CMPS was recently awarded a fixed price contract by the US Air Force to provide the system security update to the P5CTS system.
