It’s officially the dead of winter, and Hawaii’s sun, sand, and warm temperatures are calling. Luckily, Hawaiian Airlines has launched a spring sale that makes it easy to find cheap flights to Aloha State no matter where you’re flying from on the mainland. Between February 4 and 10, the airline sells return flights to Hawaii for as little as $278. While the lowest fares come from the West Coast, even East Coast routes – flights lasting up to 11.5 hours, in the case of the Boston-Honolulu route – can be booked for less of $700. Here’s what you need to know to take advantage of these super low rates.

You will be seated in economy class

The lowest advertised fares are for Hawaiian Airlines’ recently launched Basic Economy seat class. Like other carriers, these seats mean less choice, which may not be as appealing on longer journeys. With a basic ticket, you are allowed to bring one free carry-on bag and one personal item on board, but you cannot choose your seat before check-in, nor can you upgrade to extra comfort or first class seats. Hawaii’s main cabin fares – which allow travelers to choose seats and upgrade – are also included in this sale, along with the ability to change your flight (although there may be an additional charge to do so). ) and the opportunity to earn bonus miles for HawaiianMiles, the airline’s loyalty program. Main cabin fares are about $50-60 more than the base fare.

Most departing flights are from the west coast

The Spring Sale includes cheap flights from all major California airports: San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Los Angeles and San Diego. Flights are also available from Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas and Phoenix; on the East Coast, fly from Boston or JFK Airport in New York. Destinations include most of Hawaii’s tourist islands: Maui, Kauai, Oahu and the island of Hawaii. (Wondering which Hawaiian island is right for you? Look no further than our guide to all the islands.)

The lowest routes include round trips from San Jose, CA to Maui-Kahului ($278), Oakland to Kauai-Lihue ($278), San Francisco to Oahu-Honolulu ($298) and from Los Angles to Maui-Kahului ($328). The most expensive flights are New York to Oahu-Honolulu ($658) and Boston to Oahu-Honolulu ($698).

There are certain restrictions regarding the days of the week

Although the specific days available depend on the itinerary, the Hawaiian Airlines flights included in the sale are good for travel to Hawaii on Tuesday or Thursday and from the islands to the mainland on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

All fares are non-stop

The sale only offers round-trip nonstop fares, which is good news for anyone who can’t stand a layover. Advertised fares include government taxes and fees and carrier fees, so you won’t see a surprise price increase when you actually go to book.

You need to travel this spring or early summer

Although travel must be booked by February 10, actual travel dates are available between February 24 and May 14, 2020. Also note: there are no blackout dates during this sale.
