Airborne alerts: 9 incidents since July 5 raise concerns for aircraft safety

Indian carriers are going through a very turbulent phase due to several issues lately. Between July 5 and July 21, there were up to nine scary incidents in the air. IANS lists incidents that have raised concerns among Airmen about the safety of air travel.

July 21: In a technical malfunction incident, an Air India Dubai-Cochin flight was diverted to Mumbai where it landed safely after the captain reported a loss of pressurisation. The incident was reported in the Boeing 787, Flight No. AI-934. The DGCA intervened and the flight was grounded and the flight crew was delisted.

July 20: A Go First flight from Delhi to Guwahati has been diverted to Jaipur after the A320neo’s windshield cracked in flight. It was the third technical incident on a Go First aircraft in two days.

July 19: In two separate cases, Go First flights were diverted to Delhi and Srinagar due to technical problems in the engines. The first A320 aircraft, VT-WJG Flight No. G8-386 from Mumbai to Leh was diverted to Delhi, while its A320 aircraft, VT-WJG Flight No. G8-6202 from Srinagar to Delhi was returned to Srinagar due to an EGT limit violation in the engine. The first aircraft was diverted to Delhi due to an EIU (Engine Interface Unit) fault in engine #2.

July 17: An IndiGo flight from Sharjah to Hyderabad has been diverted to Karachi after a technical problem was detected on the plane. IndiGo Flight No. 6E-1406, operating from Sharjah to Hyderabad, was diverted to Karachi after the pilot noticed a technical fault. The necessary procedures were followed and as a precaution the plane was diverted to Karachi.

July 16: An Air India Express plane from Calicut to Dubai has been diverted to Muscat after a burning smell was observed in one of the front galley vents of the flight. A senior DGCA official has confirmed that the Air India Express B737-800 VT-AXX aircraft operating flight IX-355 (Calicut-Dubai) was diverted to Muscat because during the cruise a burning smell arose. unobstructed from one of the front kitchen vents. .

July 15th : A bird was found in the cockpit of Air India Express’ Bahrain-Kochi flight. The bird was found in the glove compartment on the co-pilot’s side when the aircraft was at an altitude of 37,000 feet. The plane landed safely in Kochi. Officials said at first glance it looked like a ground failure at a foreign station.

July 14th : IndiGo’s Delhi-Vadodara flight was diverted to Jaipur as a precaution as vibrations were seen in the plane’s engines.

July the 5th : A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Dubai was diverted to Karachi after a warning light on the plane malfunctioned. The Boeing 737 Max plane which was heading from Delhi to Dubai began to show an unusual reduction in the amount of fuel in its left tank while in flight. Following this, the plane was diverted to Karachi.
